Is the iPhone 5s home button grounding clip necessary?

I was replacing my iPhone 5s display assembly and the home button flex cable tore. The home button ended up getting thrown away. I ordered a new home button but it does not have the grounding clip and screw. Is this part necessary?

Apple doesn't consider the iPhone to have any user-serviceable parts. However, given all the trouble Apple has gone to to squeeze as much as possible into such a small device, it's unlikely that they would have included parts that weren't necessary.
