Question about texts/messenger

I have an iPhone 6 with Verizon and my friend has some android phone with metro, and sometimes he wont even receive my messages or sometimes it sends as a double text of the same thing. This only ever happens to him and to no one else I text, is it something wrong with my phone or his?
