Why do I get audio files with very little punch when uploading a CD and how can I solve it

Uploading a CD is transferring from a CD to a server on a network. Is that what you are doing, or are you ripping a CD to your computer?
What do you mean by "punch"? Do you mean it is acoustically different? If so, under what exact conditions, and are they being fairly compared? Do you mean you play the CD on the computer, then rip it and play the resulting sound files and it sounds different? Do you have any equalizer settings active? Are you using SoundCheck (see preferences settings)?
