operating with two hard drives

I have a mbp 2011 build Yosemite 10.10.4. I removed the optical drive and installed a 750 GB HHD there and Installed a 250 GB SSD where the original drive was. Both drives have Yosemite installed on them. How do i set them up as starter drive and storage drive or to function as one drive?

Since both have OS X installed, you can just pick the SSD as the boot drive and simply use the HD for storage. The Yosemite installation on your HD doesn't take much space and it's often handy to have a second boot drive with utilities on it.

If you want them to function as "one drive," you can create a "Fusion" drive. Take a look at these instructions on how to do that.
