I have a group of picture and a few movies taken by a Photographer that I have been requested to burn to a Dvd so that it can be viewed on a TV. What are my options? and where can I find instructions?

DVD's are standard definition so your modern videos won't look their best. Same with the photos.
Buy a cheap external hard drive and have them put the best quality files on it.
You can do this with iPhoto and iDVD. IDVD is available on Amazon as part of iLife 09 or iLife 11.
If you want to go with higher definition I would recommend Toast 12. I use Toast 12 to burn Blu-ray discs at 1080p.
I prefer to do this job with optical media, I like how easy it is to give copies of discs to friends. It's hard to beat the portability and ease of use of a DVD or Blu-ray.
Try Digiber software.
It accepts movies, music, photo files as input and burn to a disc.
