How can I Share video from iPhone6 to iMac without resolution loss?

Hello,

My wife has just bough a new iPhone 6 plus.

She has sent me some video via email.

When it arrives at my iMac the resolution is quite poor. 568 x 320. It's as a MOV file.

Is there a better way to transfer files and keep to a higher resolution?

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9), 3.06 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4GB

Don't share via email.

Connect the device and copy the movie to a machine to use in iMovie.

Ok so I've left the settings alone.

Seems like a cable transfer is the only way to keep the original iPhone video at the original resolution.

I wonder if Apple have considered an option for HD transfer?

On thinking about i it, it's probably not a good idea as files would be too large?

Drifting off slightly I wonder how the near proximity transfer softwares operate? For example Sony advertise it on their cameras. f it does retain the quality then perhaps we will see an Apple version.
