NBT Debit card and Apple Pay

Hi,

I'm having an issue with my NBT Bank debit card and Apply Pay.

I am working with my bank on this issue, so far there has been no solution.

I setup up my card like any other on Apple Pay and one would think that it would work flawlessly. Credit works, just not debit.

I normally shop at Wegmans and they upgraded their tellers to use remote devices like Apple Pay. So I use my debit card on my Apple Pay and it prompts for a PIN. So I try my bank PIN that I use normally for my debit card...invalid.

So I called the bank and they said try to use your phone's security PIN instead.

Went again and tried that. Nope, invalid.

When I use my NBT Bank debit card as credit it works, however the 4 visible numbers for the card number are not my card numbers too? Bank says its a token number from Apple Pay?

I guess my question is issue, is if anyone else gets a PIN for their debit card and/or uses NBT Bank?

Does Apple Pay have its own PIN? I looked everywhere on my phone's settings for one, I can't find it.

"When I’m paying in a store using my debit card in Apple Pay, should I choose Credit or Debit on the terminal?

If you see this choice, we recommend that you choose Credit to get the most consistent Apple Pay experience. Choosing Debit might not always work successfully with some older merchant payment terminals and backend systems."

I now see this. I been searching up and down on google trying to find something.

So I'm guessing its now down to Wegmans?

However they have the User uploaded file symbol on their reader.

I have similar problem with PNC debit card. I try to use my pin for the card, "invalid," I try it again and it invalidates the card completely until I call the help line. This morning, I put in the device number from the phone, it began to OK the transaction, asked for the account # again, I put in the device #, asked for the account # again. asked for the account #, I put in my pin and it OK'd it!

The bank tells me that it's Apple's problem and they won't help to solve it.
