I can't upload videos from my sony camcorder. I used to be able to..before I installed the last OS X update
Final Cut Pro X, OS X Mavericks (10.9), FCPX 10.0.9
WWhat version of the OS and the software, exactly what camera, what format?
OS X version 10.10.3
I tried importing with FCPX and iMovie...both didn't recognize the camera
The Camera is a Sony HXR MC50U
I had no problems uploading from the cam before my recent OS X updates

Recent OS update is Yosemite. What version of FCPX are you using.

AAre you trying to read a card or from the camera? Is it set to playback? Try using a card reader.
It's set to playback from the camera's 64GB hard disk. I connect the cam through USB....now the mac doesn't even recognize the attached device.

Does it appear in Disk Utility? Or in Image Capture, perhaps?
Does that camera also use an SD card or other form of card? You may be able to copy in the camera from the hard drive to the card. Cumbersome, but a possible workaround (not a solution, of course, but a workaround).
Thanks guys...I finally got it to work after I installed software drive from Sony. Now I'm trying to figure out how to transfer my footage from the hard disk to an sd card in case this happens again
