Download photos from iPhone to Macbook Pro

Hello,

So I have this issue: I had some trouble with my mac and reinstalled the OS. Therefore I lost all unsaved data, including photos. Luckily, my "photos" folder on my iPhone shows I have 6000 of them on my phone. Unluckily I can't transfer them via iCloud or iPhoto. I can't see that specific album with neither app.

I can see the photos on my phone and iTunes shows they occupy space, but I can't transfer the photos in any other folder on the phone as well as on the mac....

Does anyone know how I can recover the photos?? It's getting really annoying as I am trying for 3 days already...

Were the photos transferred to the phone from the Mac by using iTunes photo sync? If so, you will need a 3rd party app to recover them and there may be some loss of quality from the originals that were on your Mac. One 3rd party utility that claims the ability to transfer photos originally placed onto a phone via iTunes is https://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy/
