Unable to install any apps. iTunes recognizes my husbands iPad even when not connected.

I noticed that my Apple Store app disappeared. When I connected to iTunes it recognized my husband's iPad and showed up on the desktop. iTunes recognizes my iPad, but I cannot install any apps. Tried the restart on iPad and all the other suggestions listed in the support section. What now?
