Is there a way to backup my iphone contacts to a csv file?

My Contacts Backup.

Exports to vCard (.vcf) or CSV.

Why do you mark your question as the solution to the problem? It's not and it will confuse others with the same problem.

Go to the settings (small gearwheel, lower lefthand corner) set the export type to csv instead of vcf.
