Final Cut Pro photo browser not working

I am trying to make a slideshow movie in Final Cut Pro v10.2 on Yosemite. I also have Photos instead of iPhoto. All of the media browsers in FCP work except the Photos browser. When I select the pulldown menu to select a folder, album, etc., a large black window opens with navigation arrow top and bottom. The window is empty but if I click in it an album or event will appear in the browser, depending on where I click. It looks like the window is populated with the name of the albums but the names do not appear. Is this a conflict between FCP and Photos and is there a fix or work around?
