    Hello dvenditti,

I am not sure if you are walking through just the standard installation instructions or if you have gone through the troubleshooting in the article below. Check it out to check against the steps that you have already done to see if you can get pass that error message.

If you can't install or update iTunes for Windows

I have the same issue.  i have followed all the steps outlined in you link and still get the same error.  The interesting think is that during the install there is an error when trying to install "Apple Mobile Device Support".  I click retry several times and then have to click ignore to continue with the install.

I have the same issue as dvenditti and barch86. I also followed all the steps outlined in your link and still get the same error.

For years, I had no issues with iTunes until I attempted to download the latest version a few hours ago. I get the same install error, "Apple Mobile Device Support," which states:

"Service 'Apple Mobile Device Service' (Apple Mobile Device Service) failed to start. Verify that you have the sufficient privleges to start system services."

"Retrying" results in the same message, so the only options is to and either have to abort or ignore, which gives the ultimate failed to install message:

"iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 193)."

As an added bonus, I also get the following iTunesHelper error message:

"iTunesHelper was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7."

Now I don't have and can't get iTunes at all. Fantastic...

Any help other than to be redirected to yet another troubleshooting webpage would be very beneficial. Thanks!

    UPDATE:

I found the following solution in a separate thread.

I found this link to the Apple site:

    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1784?viewlocale=en_US - iTunes 12.1 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards)

I feel your pain - was losing the will with this and spent ages googling possible fixes.  This worked immediately but it is just possible that Apple fixed whatever the bug was and my success was coincidental - who knows?!

Best of luck and enjoy your new phone.
