messages delivered and read

Is there a way for setting individual message recipients to view message as read instead of showing each recipient that the message is read in Apple iPhone? I have the 4S and was wondering if any of the new updates has that. For example, if settings are turned on in Settings to show message as read then every message you view will notify others that you have read it, but isn't there a way to do that for individual messages and not for all messages? If there already isn't then Apple should add that in the message settings. It would be really nice.
