Q: How to delete the Time Machine and restart as fresh hard drive ?
Hi there,
My external HDD used for Time Machine is almost full. And I just upgraded to Yosemite.
So I figure I do not need all those backups in Time Machine anymore. And I wanna used the external HDD to start a new.
How to I delete or reformat the external HDD as a new backup for Time Machine ?
Thanks

I'm pretty sure it's just a matter of opening Disk Utility and selecting the quick ERASE option.
Whatever you do, don't drag the drive's contents to the trash . . . I did that several years ago and it took hours to delete!
Remember that once it's erased you will have no access to those backups. Normally this won't matter but you may have some ancient valuable document that could be gone forever.
