How to run Tally ERP9 Multi User on Macbook without any problems/quirks, then which macbook pro to buy?
Hi everybody,
First up, my experience with Mac so far:
I have recently sold my iMac mid 2009 and Macbook Air mid 2013. Still have a Macbook Pro mid 2010.So I have been a Mac user from quite some time. 🙂
Dilemma:
I am thinking of buying a new laptop and after researching quite a bit in the market for a windows laptop, I have come to the conclusion that Macs are still better at almost everything that they do 😉 My problems with using a macbook for work are as under:
- Tally ERP 9 accounting software (this software is really big in India and I can't switch from it anytime soon).
- SAP Business One, which we will be upgrading our firm to in next 2 years, again doesn't work on Mac OSX
- Believe it or not Touchscreen. I really like the option of scrolling webpages and being able to interact with the screen on my Dell Inspiron 11 3148. But I use it only for movie watching only and it is sufficient for that. Nothing more than that either or it will get too slow, lag and overheat. So very typical of windows machines.➖
Background user experience:
I have had bad experience with Parallels on my Macbook Pro and too many petty issues with regards to running Tally that I gave up hope of using mac again for my work. It just wouldn't run properly, sometimes network issue, sometimes the other. But now, I have to a make a purchase again and here I am, looking at all the best laptops from windows but I think the awesome battery on my last Macbook Air mid 2013 has spoilt me too much. It was too fast for daily web browsing, emails, MS Office, etc. and the battery would never give up on me! So this has me considering the Macbook Pro Retina either 13 or 15.
Options available and advice needed on:
In windows, I like Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro, Dell XPS 13 and eagerly awaiting the Microsoft Surface Pro 4's release. I love the Lenovo Yoga's hinge (on my Dell Inspiron 11 lol) and would want my next laptop to have it as well as I want to use for business and personal uses both. Since, windows has that as well as touch screen and can run Tally as well, so that is a plus in it's favor. But Macs have faster and lag free user experience, great battery, etc. and Retina display with proper scaling (no PPI problem) as well. So could any of you folks guide me to a successful way to use Tally on macbook pro with retina on Lan network. I already have a Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter. Only looking for a full proof way to use the said software with printing, multi user support and no problems whatsoever. If in case, there are problems still, then I will look for windows ultraportables.
Thanks for reading this post, good day!
