Albums sync in backwards year order

On iTunes, albums are sorted by year, and are in order. For example, an album released in 2000 is at the top, and when I scroll down I can see the next album, released in 2004. However, when I sync music to my phone, it is always in the opposite order; so the 2004 album is first, then the 2000 album. I have no idea what may have caused this, I always use the most up to date version of iTunes and I generally don't mess with the settings. This just happened one time I synced my phone and has never gone back. How can I return the albums to the correct year order on my iPhone?

I use an iPhone 6, but previously had an iPhone 4 when this started to happen. I always have the most up to date iTunes and iOS.
