Nothing happens when I try to sync

I'm using an iPod classic, the software is up to date, and I'm using the latest version of iTunes. When I connect my iPod and press "Sync" nothing happens. No errors, nothing. Sometimes the screen on my iPod will change from "connected" to "syncing" for a few seconds but nothing actually happens. I have tried restoring my iPod to factory settings and reinstalling iTunes, nothing has worked.

I have 4 ipods and this is happening to all of them. i need help as well.
