I cant login on imessage or download apps on my ipod 5th gen

My ipod was powered off and when i powered it on i whent on imessage and it said login i put in my password but it said i had no connection but i was connected to a wifi network then i whent to the app store and when i tried to download an app i typed in my password and it would load then go back to saying get i also cant log into i tunes. When i get into settings and go to itunes i try to login but it will start loading but it whont connect me i need help plz. Thx
