Any way to "Roll back" a device before changes were made to it?

Hey,

I just tried to put some music on my girlfriend's iTouch 4th Generation. All the music that I transferred plays successfully, but most, if not all of the music that was on the device previously is grayed out and unplayable. So my question is this: Is there any way to either roll-back the device's download/iTunes-transfer history before the changes were made (other than by using iCloud, which I forgot to use to back the iTouch up beforehand), or is there a way to get the music back on the device? So far, the only way seems to be by repurchasing it all, and there were quite a few songs. Thank you for your help.

iPod touch, iOS 6.1.6, null
