Whenever I plug my phone into my Mac all the photos get deleted

When I plug my phone into my Mac book all my photos get deleted from either my Mac or my phone. This has happened to me multiple times. Is this my mistake? Is this an apple mistake? It's very annoying

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2012), iOS 7.1.1
