iPhone constantly asks for Yahoo password in Calendar and Contacts apps

For several months now, every time I do anything on my iPhone 5s in the Calendar or Contacts apps, this messages pops up and asks me to enter my password. When I enter it, it goes away, but then always comes back when I select something else or make a change somewhere. It's very annoying and I have no idea how to fix it! It has to do with my Yahoo! account, which is linked to my Macbook Pro - maybe that has something to do with it? Anyway, I'd love some advice for how to help solve this problem.

This happens to me often. I found a fix that seems to be working, we will see if it continues to work.

When my iOS devices indicates the yahoo password problem, I log into Yahoo mail via webpage and there is usually an extra security step requiring you to type a code that's in a graphic, i.e. A short set of numbers/letters. I think what's happening is that iOS Mail is somehow not satisfying that occasional security requirement. So I log into the Yahoo page, click (Yahoo) mail up top, and answer that security challenge, and the web version of Yahoo email pops up. Once I've done that, my iOS Mail works again. By doing this I havent had to do anything in iOS Mail settings, it just starts working again.

This might not be everyone's issue, but I hope it helps.

I've had this problem for years. I tried deleting the account and re-adding it, it makes no difference the problem returns within a month or so. It seems that the app just forgets or expires the password. I have to keep the password in the notes app and paste it in when it asks, then it'll work for another month...

So much for single use, one time app specific passwords.

Using the Yahoo web email app doesn't solve the issue of this thread. Some people use a local email client. They may need to sync email inbound to read offline later. Or, they necessarily have more than one email account, as I do. They configure emails from all to funnel into one inbox.

It's frustrating to have several accounts that integrate with Mac's client, but one rogue that intermittently complains about needing a password -- one that Yahoo accepted a day or more beforehand. Other providers integrate well with standard email clients. Why not Yahoo?

Although helpful, I have actually completely disabled the additional security prompt requirement in my Yahoo settings, however still have the issue on all Apple devices.

Also, I have mailed a senior technician with Apple support with a link to this forum and details about the issue to see if Apple is aware of the issue and if there is a solution, outside of a security update. I update if I receive a positive resolution.

Hey,

Yes, of course. I think you may misunderstand. The password works- Mail always works, Calendar works for a month or so and then iOS prompts me to enter it again if I open Calendear or edit/move an event. So I paste it in, and it's happy for another month. I can't see how this would be a Yahoo issue - I've provided the correct password each time, it accepts it and it hasn't changed. It just forgets it, or at least decideds that it wants me to enter it again every now and then. Even when it's prompting me for the password again in Calendar, Mail still works with that same stored password.
