My Macbook Air has downloaded iTunes update 12.1.2 over 100 times. What is going on?

Ever since iTunes update to version 12.1.2 was made available, my Macbook Air has been downloading it over & over again. It has now done so over 100 times. This hasn't happened with any of my other computers. Does anyone know what's going on?

MacBook Air (Mid 2009), OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

Back up all data before proceeding.

Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

~/Library/Containers/com.apple.appstore

Right-click or control-click the line and select

Services Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)

from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Quit the application if it's running. Move the selected item to the Trash. Relaunch the application and test.

*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select

Go Go to Folder...

from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

I tried this solution with my 2008 mac pro running 10.10.3. I have the App Store update saying Keynote, Numbers, and Pages updates continue to be needed after running the update. I did not have same issue after updating non Apple software, Memory Clean, at the same time. After putting the folder "com.apple.appstore" in the trash and restarting the updates were again being presented. Another odd behavior is that it asks for the password for sign-in several times as if needed for each app to be downloaded. Any other suggestions?

Also Updates Installed in the Last 30 Days shows each of the attempts.

Thanks in advance.
