how can i sync/update my iPhone contacts to iCloud? on my mac its still taking the old contacts.

I am user of iPhone 5s and new user of Macbook Air. The contacts option in Mac is showing old contacts. I think the new contact on my iPhone is not syncing with iCloud/gmail. can anyone please suggest how can i update?

iPhone 5s, iOS 8.3
