Apple App Store update symbol won't go away on 'new' iPhone after restore

Hi, recently I got an iPhone from my friend and I replaced it with the backup from my old iPhone, which had 27 or-so updates needed for apps on the app store, now that I have restored the backup onto the iPhone 5 the 27 indications are still there. Does anybody know how to fix this?
