I can't get camera remote to work

Has anyone experienced not being able to use the Camera Remote app at all. Despite being on bluetooth range, I got the message on my watch "Apple Watch couldn't reach your iPhone".

What should I do, have tried restarted the iPhone and the Apple Watch. No change.

I suggest to reset both iPhone and Apple Watch.

iPhone:

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button
Press and hold on the Home button
Keep holding both buttons until the display turns off and back on with Apple logo on it.

Alternatively, you may go to Settings - General - Reset - Reset All Settings

Apple Watch:

Press and hold the side button and the Digital Crown for 10 seconds or more, until the Apple logo appears on the screen.
