Can I connect a USB camera to ipad

Hi

Hope you can help

I need to connect a specialist camera to an ipad.

Typically this camera runs from a PC or Laptop via USB using a regular USB 2 connection from the PC to a USB mini connector on the camera.

This cable both powers the camera and links it to the imaging software on the PC

Is it possible to do this same thing with an version / generation of Ipad ?

does ipad have a USB out that can power small devices ?

if you guys can help it would be brilliant.

If you buy the camera connection kit then you can hook up a camera to the iPad.

However the iPad is only set to import properly named photo and video files from the iPad.

Unless your camera has an app I really doubt the iPad will put out enough power to power your ipad (in fact one of the biggest issues with plugging in USB drives is that 'device requires too much power' )

You can do further research on the camera's web page - see if they list anything about an iPad - but you cannot install any program unless there's an app in the app store. Computer programs will not run on an iPad (the device speaks a different programming language)
