Q: Associated devices in iTunes
Dear Apple community, I have a small issue that might be nothing but it's been bugging me and better nip it in the bud.
A while ago I purchased a used iPad Air. While with the previous owner he typed the unlock code, I went into Settings and erased everything. Then I connected the iPad to WiFi and with a cable to the computer and went through the activation process. Activation appeared to be successful, typed in my Apple ID and everything went well, then I went on to set up Find My Phone, iCloud, etc. All went just fine.
Everywhere I look in the iPad I see my Apple ID assigned with no error. I can see the new device in Find My Phone along with my other iPad, I can see my previous purchases and have no problem installing some of my older applications directly from the iPad from the App Store (they all appeared in my Purchased list) and also from the computer by connecting the iPad with the cable.
So basically everything I see points to the fact that the iPad is totally and correctly connected to my Apple ID. And here is my problem. When going into iTunes to My Account I see that only one device associated with my Apple ID, that being my other iPad. I have completely reset the iPad several times, reactivating it and logging in with my Apple ID which worked as expected every time. But somehow despite the fact that my ID is stamped all over the new iPad and behaves as such, the iTunes on my computer still doesn't see it as associated.
It makes me wonder if I could be in for some surprises with the previous owner, in case he can somehow access the data on the iPad or just play around. I can't remember the exact date when I bought the iPad but I did find a backup that I have done ~2 months ago (actually 54 day ago today). Could this be related to the 90 day limit until the device can be associated with another ID? During this period can the previous owner do anything related to this device?
Thank you.
iPad Air, iOS 8.3
