Q: Import movies from iCloud Photo Library into FCPX

What the easiest way is to get video from my iCloud Photo Library into FCPX v1.2? Are they available in the import dialog, because I can't seem to find them. Thanks!

Scratch that. I figured it out. You can just pull iCloud Photo Library videos in from the Photos Browser.

Are the dragged files exactly the files that are in the library folder or previews, like when you drag a photo from Photos?

How do you handle the duplicate file structure of having a video inside both Photos and FCPX?

I put all my vids in FCPX libraries (named after year) and since I moved to Photos I'm trying to figure out a good workflow.

I'm also looking for a solution for the same duplication problem:

Files that are being dragged from within Fcpx Photos library are duplicated in Fcpx library's original media folder, be it a photos or video, which doubles the space. A bit annoying.

Why it just does not leave a reference copy e.g. shortcut to the original file, like it would do if you drag it from a Finder folder or even same photos library via show packed contents which reveals file structure?

    Any solutions anybody?

    Thanks

TThe solution is not to put media destined for use in a video application into your Photos library. The application certainly can't access media stored in iCloud, the delivery is not compatible with realtime playback.

It's a real shame Apple can't sort this out. I rather prefer to have all videos and photos in photos app, but would like them to make a reference in Fcpx instead of duplications. The thing is that it leaves a reference to file when file is manually located in Finder > photos library > show packed contents, but this is painfully slow.
