Apple has implemented a "discovery process" to let them decide the way they think is best to service your issue - likely because of HEAVY Genius Bar traffic.

If your problem stems from not being able get the "option", you could be merely missing it... when you get to the Service Options page, it MAY be snuggled at the bottom of the page as a LINK rather than the Big Square Button that they would prefer. Also, you may need to be cleverly ambiguous in your choices along the line. Rather than start at locate.apple.com, start here instead because the process will then know you really are searching ONLY for Genius Bar > http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/
