login loop on 10.6.8
My admin login seems to have got corrupted, and it loops on login. Other login is fine.
Not sure what to replace or delete to get it up and running again. Help!

Could you provide more information on what is happening when you try to log into your admin account please?
Hi Eric,
When I log in to admin it loads the background picture, loads the dock and menu bar at the top of the desktop and then after about 5 secs it goes to a light blue screen and back to the login screen.
It was a lot worse than this, but I have removed the "recentitems.plist" and "loginwindow.plist" from the admin user lib., prefs folder. After checking these forums for similar problems.
But I can log in from a guest id I'd set up for my parents.
I had this problem and clearing out the audits folder fixed it for me.
/private/var/audit
Thanks for the response, i tried it, but it didn't make any difference after a full shutdown/power up.
I really appreciate the suggestion though.
Corrupt .DS_Store files too can be the issue.
Not sure of the command, but using Onyx for your particular OS I believe has the ability to clear them out.
Onyx didn't sort it out, however "Maintenance" by the same company did work! Checking both maintenance boxes, all cleaning boxes and rebuilding launchservices and dyld's shared cache, sorted it out.
I can log in, now I just need to see if everything is behaving as it should.
Many thanks for the clues, they didn't work on this specific problem, but you got me to the right place to fix it!
Cheers!
Have never looked at Maintenance. Gonna check it out. Glad you're all set.
