I have 79 gb in other

I've had my macbook pro 13 inch retina for about a month and a half and I'm already having issues with storage. I've read on other forums that I can use disk utility, omnidisksweeper(?) or grandperspective to save myself some more storage but I haven't tried those yet. But I have deleted cache items that accompany history on both google chrome and safari. Those released about 4 gb but it's back up again. I don't use time machine and I don't use my laptop regularly so what could it be? If you have any ideas that would be nice. I'm running on yosemite 10.10.3 if that means anything. (side note: Over the span of a week other has increased by 6 gb.) 😟

Since the storage display in system preferences tells you nothing about the files or folder that are using the disk space plus it is notorious about putting the wrong files in category, it is basically worth less.

If you truly wish to fix this problem, I suggest that you download and install OmniDiskSweeper. When you run it it will tell you the files and folders that using the most dick space. With that information you should be able to solver problem.
