It sounds as if you have Zoom enabled on your iPad. To turn Zoom off, press the Home button quickly three times. See this help page -

May 11, 2015 12:34 PM in response to Brett Lby pamelacg,Brett , I really appreciate your prompt reply. Regrettably, it did not help. I wonder if my screen is not sensitive enough as I asked my husband to assist and neither method worked for him.
The good news is I connected my iPad to my MacBook Air and found where I could turn off the Zoom button.
So all is fine now. Again , thank you.
