Apple uses what appears to be a proprietary system for their "extend" feature, which is designed to only allow another Apple AirPort router to extend or expand the network wirelessly.

If you are trying to configure the TP-Link range expander to connect using wireless to an Apple network and extend the network, the chances of it being able to do this are extremely small. I've tried this with several TP-Link products and have never been able to find a way to make it work.

There are no settings that you can apply to either the AirPort Extreme or AirPort Express that will allow the TP-Link to extend the network, so your question is not really for an Apple support forum, your question is for a TP-Link forum. The link is just below:

Support - Welcome to TP-LINK

If you can connect the TP-Link back to the AirPort Extreme using a permanent wired Ethernet cable connection, the TP-Link can be setup to function as a wireless access point using the same wireless network name, same wireless security and same password as the AirPort router and extend the network in that manner.

Check with TP-Link support for more details about how to do this, since again, you would not be changing any settings on any of the AirPort routers or using any Apple software for this. It's all up to the TP-Link.
