Aug 8, 2015 7:21 PM in response to Old Toadby Allan Eckert,Yes. It is back a page.
I hate it when so many people post so many different problems all on the same thread. It only leads to confusion for everyone. They really should start a new thread for their problem instead of hijacking this confusing mess that this thread has turned into. I refuse to answer any more posts of new problem on this thread.

Aug 9, 2015 9:14 AM in response to bkl298by Old Toad,It is best to start your own thread as it's difficult to know what you've tired in the way of fixes, etc. Also with such a long thread it's difficult to navigate effectively. You'll get more attention starting your own topic.
That being said try repairing the library according to this Apple document: Repair Your Library.

Sep 5, 2015 12:34 PM in response to Old Toadby Gwendolyn Orel,I'm also having a terrible time... photos hangs... some streamed pics show up some don't... trying to import pics it stops with about 10 done... help!
Mine is an older MacBookPro but I can't afford to buy a new computer. I'm a poor broke journalist. Which means I use a lot of pics and videos. Never had a problem with iPhoto.
I just want to be able to see and use my pictures.
Here is my report. What should I do?

Sep 5, 2015 4:53 PM in response to Old Toadby Gwendolyn Orel,I did that and it didn't help. Now what? Literally half the photos aren't there, just grey boxes with a cloud. It's at least six hours later.

Sep 6, 2015 11:05 AM in response to Gwendolyn Orelby léonie,Please post your question again in a new discussion. Use the "New" menu item it the top of this page.
It is really hard to read questions on page 8 of a long discussion.
When you do that describe exactly what is not working. Which devices are you using for My Photo Stream and which iOS versions. Where is your Photos Library stored? How much free storage do you have?
And why did you not update to the latest Yosemite version? I see, you are still using MacOS X 10.10.3. The later Yosemite versions have a few bug fixes, perhaps updating will solve your problem.
-
Sep 6, 2015 7:58 PM in response to Ryan K.by WuLi,I am very disappointed with Photo 1.0.1. When I updated to Yosemite, this update to Apple's previous iPhoto came along for the ride. The previous version was so much better; more efficient, more intuitive, faster. Does anyone have a recommendation for a 3rd-party photo app to replace this disappointing app?
-
Sep 6, 2015 8:16 PM in response to WuLiby Allan Eckert,I completely agree with you about Photo being one of Apple's weaker releases. It appears to be Photo from the iPhone recompiled so that runs on the Mac.
As soon as Apple announced the demise of Aperture & iPhoto, I started research third party solutions.
To replace Aperture, which what I use primarily, I have been looking at Capture One.
A solution I found for users of iPhoto is Lyn.
-
Sep 7, 2015 8:13 AM in response to WuLiby Old Toad,iPhoto was not deleted from your hard drive, only removed from the Dock. If you have iPhoto 9.6.1 you can still use your iPhoto library.
If you don't have that version but some earlier version of 9.x try following Terence Devlin's instructions in this post to obtain iPhoto 9.6.1 from the App Store:
Apr 14, 2015 11:21 AM
Re: Is Iphoto gone ? i want it back!
Recommended
Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash.
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928
One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

Sep 8, 2015 1:56 AM in response to Old Toadby nealeh01,Hi OT, You seem to be the goto guy on this. Hope you can advise. Got rid of Mcaffe and ditched old programmes, but something is hogging my RAM and redundant M-Audio files are active, but not present...I assume all of this is affecting Photos operation, but I've not a clue how to solve the issues. Just notice Time Machine is not backing up, but all on and plenty of space and archive to delete...Any and all help appreciated.

Sep 8, 2015 6:06 AM in response to nealeh01by Allan Eckert,It does not appear that you got rid of McAfee correctly because their is still a part of it that is eating your CPU alive. Try rebooting and see if it goes away..

Sep 8, 2015 7:46 AM in response to Allan Eckertby nealeh01,Cheer Allan, that seems to have done the trick...Simple but effective, photos is blistering along now. The defunct M-Audio is still hanging about and I can't seem to locate it. I appreciate this orphan file is nothing to do with the thread but would be very grateful for your advice. Thanks again.
Problem description:
