Hi,

I would double check the setting on the iPhone still list the Mac.

If it appears it is but it is not working I would consider resetting it (turning the Text Forwarding Off and waiting a few minute s before turning it On again (this should trigger the Mac Code Number) ).

Hi,

Looking at dgt11's profile it does seem that they reply to questions for more info in the threads that they have started.

This one seems out of the ordinary in that respect.

Eric has listed most of the help documents on this and I have already suggested resetting the setting on the iPhone to get a new code number which re-make the whole link between the two.

Hi,

On the iPhone > Settings > Messages

If you have Enabled Text Forwarding then this should allow you to tap it and see who many devices are "connected" and whether they are selected to be so.

Text Messages Forwarding is the first item down the list after the Messages app is enabled.

It should read "1 Device" at least is lighter grey text.

Once to tap to enter the device listed should have the green (On) slide showing.

I am suggesting that you deselect the device which will disable the Text Forwarding function.

If you then leave the settings and wait for a few minutes the link to the Mac should be removed form the iPhone.

Go back to the Messages settings and select Text Forwarding again.

This should generate the Code pop up on the Mac. It should be a new code and the iPhone should stay waiting for it.

Enter the new code on the iPhone.

It should now be working again.

Umm,

Bit odd.

Normally the new ones sync as it is reset and the missing ones are "lost" forever.

Lets just check.

On the iPhone in Settings > Messages the Send and Receive section list the iPhone Number ?

It is ticked and Active (even though it is greyed out) ?

The Apple ID that is used on the Mac version is also Listed here ? (Both Signed In and as an Active ID)

In Settings > WiFi the iPhone is connected to your LAN ?

On the Mac it is connected to your LAN ? (it can Ethernet or WiFi)

Back on the iPhone in Settings > Messages the Text Forwarding is Enabled ?

It lists your Mac ?

If there is an SMS chat showing on your Mac can you use it to Send SMS as a test ?

Does this work ?

I'm having a problem with incoming text messages, from only some sources.

I have about 10 text "conversations" running on my my iPhone and on my MacAir.

On 3 of the conversations, "incoming texts" are not showing up. My out-going are showing up, whether sent from my iPhone or from my computer. The incoming only show up on my phone. I can see the "3 dots" when someone is typing ... but the message texts never shows up on my computer.

My settings are all correct, because I have 13 conversations running fine ... just (2) that won't give me the incoming side of the conversation.

Weird

Hi,

As all incoming items in both iMessages and SMS are in grey balloons it can be hard to pin down where it might be breaking down.

For instance you may have last sent a iMessages (blue ballooned) outgoing iMessage.

However whilst they are typing their end may think it is going to respond as an iMessages but when it come to the actual send the iPhone (most likely) decided that the service it had could only manage and SMS.

Then it depends if your two devices are linked properly.

Check with your Contact what colour message they sent and see if you can pin it down further.

Hi,

I would tend to reset everything then.

Sign Out on the Mac

Sign Out of the Apple ID on the iPhone in Settings > Messages Send and Receive.

Then slide the Messages enabled item from green to white (Shut the app down)

Then open the Messages app on the iPhone.

Wait until the number has verified again.

Whilst it is doing then Enable SMS if not set and on the Mac restart the App and sign in to the Apple ID.

Once the Number has verified confirm that the iPhone Number can send by specifically typing in your Apple ID to send to.

If that work add back the Apple ID on the iPhone.

Accept the pop ups on the Mac.

Check the iPhone is joining the WiFi part of your LAN that the Mac is on.

Enable Text Forwarding again so that the Code Number (new) appears on the Mac to be entered back on the iPhone.

This is unlikely to get the missed ones downloaded so to speak but they should sync from now on.
