Photos app using 2.69GB of RAM

The Photos app on Yosemite is using 2.69GB of the 8GB of RAM I have installed. It seems like an awful lot to me and it doesn't always do this. It tends to happen after it's been open for a while. Any help is much appreciated thanks!

That's the way it's intended to work. With Mavericks and Yosemite all available RAM is used if necessary. As additional apps are opened and require RAM it's released from those using the RAM and allocated to the new app. The thinking here is any unused RAM is wasted RAM.

As long as the memory pressure is in the green and steady and no swap used in Activity Monitor there's no problem.
