Can't remove a widget from the bashboard

I have removed all but one of the widgets from the dashboard successfully.

However, one widget remains and it won't delete from the dashboard.

Clicking the manage widgets, within the list the item has a check mark in the tick box, but this won't untick like the rest of the widgets did; so remains visible in the dock. I want to remove this items.

There is a lot of activity in the activity monitor for the Dashboard and for this reason I want to clear all items out.

Would welcome some advice how to remove this final item from the Dashboard.

Thank you

Thank you for the help sanjampet

I am using OS 10.6.8 - The manage widgets panel has a list of widgets with a check box by each. Unchecking the box causes the widget to disappear from the dashboard. It seems that always one widget needs to be checked in the box, and thus this one is remaining in the dock.

All the widgets previously in the dashboard still show up in the Manage widgets list.

I would like to find a way to remove all widgets from the dock, and also all the widgets from the widgets list. I wonder if I can remove the widgets not active in the dashboard from the library folder/ Perhaps also remove the plists?

The dock seems to be constantly running in the activity monitor even though I never ever used the widgets in the dashboard. I am trying to eliminate all processes as the computer is getting sluggish.

Thank you.
