Q: I have not uploaded runs from my Garmin Forerunner 220 watch in a few months, but today when I connected my watch to the mac, I got this message:  The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer.  What is going on?

I have not had a problem with my watch before today.  Any idea why this message would pop up??

    Hi Steck08,

Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.

It looks like when you connect your Garmin watch to your Mac, you recieve the message "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer." It can be hard to say exactly why the error would appear in this situation, although there are some steps that can help troubleshoot it.

Are you connecting the device to your Mac using a USB cable? If so, try the troubleshooting steps at this link:

USB and FireWire Quick Assist - Apple Support

I recommend going through the "Top troubleshooting tips" section on the 2nd half of the page.

    Best Regards,

    Jeremy

Thanks for the attempted help, Jeremy, but this did nothing for me.  I still keep getting the same message.   I even tried going in through Safari (I'm a chrome user), but that did nothing for me either.  I am going to try contacting Garmin now.

    Thanks!

I upload runs from my Garmin 220 almost daily and this has just started happening to me as well over the past 3 days.

I haven't updated OS X or any software that could cause this.

Did you manage to get a response from Garmin that solved the situation?

I have not heard from Garmin yet, but I did manage to get the issue resolved by searching (and searching and searching) the internet!!  I found a random website forum that was discussing this same issue and one man made this suggestion and it TOTALLY worked for me:

Trouble connecting Forerunner to MAC/OSX, try these small steps.

If all drivers and Garmin SW are installed and you still can not connect:

power down Forerunner (hold light button 5 seconds).

Put in cradle, then plug in to USB.

    Works every time.

I hope this works for you as well!!  I was ecstatic when all fell into place when I did it!!!

    Fantastic, thank you!

    It worked a treat.

I should have thought about re-starting the watch!

    Thanks again.
