Q: Pictures deleted in Photos but storage not increased
Using Iphoto I saw Photos was copying photos additionally. I bought Photosweeper when storage became scarce and deleted about 300 GB of pictures in Photos. But the free storage space is not going up. I restarted, repaired with hard disk tool, but without change. Looking at the folder size with Path Finder, it looks like Photos still needs the full space as before the deleting. How can I free the space Photos occupies?

Photos is shaping the original image files with the iPhoto library or Aperture library you migrated. All original files are hard links to to the originals in your old library. Deleting photos will only free space, when all copies have been deleted - in your Photos library and in the original library.
See these documents:
- Photos saves disk space by sharing images with your iPhoto or Aperture libraries - Apple Support
- Six Colors: The (hard) link between Photos and iPhoto
And Photos does not delete the photos immediately. It will only delete the photos finally, if you empty the "Recently Deleted" album or after a month.
