iCloud email address security

should my iCloud email address be different than my Apple email address for security reasons?

It's better if your Apple ID is a non-Apple email address, both so that the login isn't the same as a published address, and so that Apple have an address to contact you at which isn't the one within the account (in case the account becomes inaccessible).


However if you already have an Apple ID which is the same as your @icloud.com address then you can't change it anyway. It would be sensible to create an email alias address and give that out rather than the main one. And you should make sure there is a 'rescue' address which isn't an Apple one.
