After SMC Reset: USB doesn't appear, external HD does

Hi there.

I was experiencing some extreme fan noises for some time, and after (apparently several methods) of SMC reset it finally worked

(taking the power cord off the MAC side instead of wall plug, which was unclear to me)

Fan noise with low load is gone now, but in one of the other SMC reset attempts, something happened to a USB I had

It's indicator light is on, but it is not being read from the mac.

My other external HD works flawlessly tho, so it's not a dead port - all other accesoires are fine too.

So can anyone help me? Perhaps clearify that i destroyed the usb, or a fix?
