how do I move a file of folder from downloads to a folder? WITHOUT typing a command!

I am trying to move a file (video) from "downloads" to a folder and/or an external drive but can not drag it or copy and paste it.

I am far away from a computer geek (wish I was!).

The only thing I can fond is to type some type of command starting with mv. I just want to drag it or copy and paste.

Apple makes it hard for me to convince others how great they are when you can't figure out the simplest of task.

Oh and by the way, I don't even have a clue WHERE to type the command! Can't believe it's gotta be this hard!

A simple "Drag & Drop" to copy the file should work.

What kind and what size is the video file?

What message are you getting when you drag & drop?

How is your External Hard Drive formatted? (FAT-32 has a single file size limit)

How much space is on your External Hard Drive? (Empty your OS X Trash if you have deleted files from it)

50.2 MB is the size.

I can not move anything to the external drive. When I look at the external drive's info. it says "You can only read". Although in the past I have put stuff on it.

The drive has 7+ gigs available on a 1.5 TB drive.

In Get Info, what is the Format...?

If it was re-formatted to NTFS by a windows system, then OS X can only read and not write to it.

It is Windows NT File System (NTFS).

But I have only used it on my mac since I took it out the box 3+ years ago.

So I don't understand the windows thing!

Can I reformat it without losing everything?

How do I reformat it.

I will move everything to the computer and then reformat after that.
