MacBook Pro connects to BT Home Hub but does not bring up a web page

I have a MacBook Pro 2.6 Ghz + 8 GB memory. My BT home Hub connects fine with the ipad and iphone but both mine and my daughters's MacBook Pro's connect but then stubbornly refuse to bring up a web page. When I tether the Mac to my iphone it works fine. I have checked with BT and there are no faults with the hub. They point to an issue with the Macs and possibly a recent update to Yosemite. Currently on Yoesemite 10.10.2. Any help gratefully received.
