Can I use the iPad adapter?

I'm struggling to get past lunch time with my apple watch. It keeps on runnign out of battery. I was wondering if using the iPad charger could be the problem. The iPad charger and it's higher amps charges my iPhone 6 Plus quicker with no detremental effect. However is this true for apple watch?

Apple Watch, iOS 8.3

Yes, you can use the iPad charger. It is definitely not the cause of your battery running out quickly. However, it sounds as if your battery is running out way too quickly. I've had mine on since 8:30am this morning. It's now 8:20p. I still have 66% battery left. Now, I haven't done any running today but I have gotten lots of notifications, made a phone call from my watch, looked at the time quite a bit.

I'd start by resetting the watch and seeing what happens.

The answer from Meg St._Clair did not actually solve the issue.

I can charge the Apple WATCH with an iPad charger. However after erasing all settings and content, restoring, resetting, using the Apple Watch adapter, using a different charging cable and then talking to Apple support, it turns out I have a dud unit. They are sending out a new one to swap out.
