Q: concept of syncing- can someone explain

once i sink my iphone with itunes on my desktop (pictures and voice memos)...can i safely delete the stuff on my iphone to allow more space? Or does syncing mean my itunes will always 'mirror' my iphone device

    Syncing is simply another term for "backing up." The backup may be one way - usually that is called "backing up" - or two-way that is called "syncing." Syncing an iDevice is mostly one way - computer to device. In other words backing up. The only mirroring that occurs is when new photos and/or purchases have been made that need to be transferred from the device to the computer.
