Q: Preferences:Genera :Location: Source  what is this ?

Under general in Preferences is

Select a a default setting and Location for Jobs

Now what exactly is this:

it does not seem to be where the output files are saved to, and I can't seem to find a way to device where output field are saved to.

I have a FCPX library bundle on an external SATA drive and that is the Source of the files that are begin processed by Compressor (4.1.3)

Yet Compressor alway saves to the Local user Movies folder.

The only other options under "Location" are Movies or Documents.

i have "Source" selected as this is the default, yet it is still sending th output to Movies in the Home Folder

I wanted the 'write to ' drive to be my usual exported moves external HDD

What does it say in the batch window for location?

I've not run into this issue in any version. Whatever is specified in Preferences appears as the default …and the output file is saved to the expected location.

Try deleting preferences with Digital Rebellion's Preference Manager and see if that fixes things.

That is just the thing, in the Batch pane on the RHS, I cant see any place where it shows where it will be saved.  I have looked multiple times and cant find where it specifies it.

I'll have a look at Digital Rebellion's Preference Manager when I get home.

    Thanks

OK,  in that space you have circled ..it says Source.

I was looking for an area, a path that can be changed, but I see how to do it now, you can change the output path when you add the Output type. or cmd click the box to bring up 'Location'

    thanks for the help
