Yes that little icon just means that your iPhone has disconnected from your apple watch, and or is no longer paired with your iPhone.
Probably the phone's reception in this area.

This icon sometimes comes up when the iPhone is quite near. Can the Wi-Fi disconnect when the iPhone and watch are close to each other?
