Not heard of error 47, however here are a few things to try.
- Make sure computer is up to date on software
- Make sure iTunes as well is up to date
- Try a different USB cord, or a different USB port on the computer
- If have a backup, turn the device off - [make sure Find My iPhone/iPad etc is turned off under Settings - iCloud first] once the device is turned off, hold down the home button then plug into the cord which should be connected to the computer. Wait till you 'should' see a prompt on the computer screen in iTunes about the device being in recovery mode and then let go of the home button and select restore device.
If you are still unable to restore the device and get that message
- Try a different computer - if able to restore great! If you are not then most possibly hardware
