Excel files and I-Cloud Drive
Can I upload Excel files to I Cloud Drive from my MacBook Pro, so that I can access them on an IPad Air 2 elsewhere?

How is it done?
I've logged into iCloud.com, accessed Numbers and tried to upload the Excel spreadsheet from my dock, where it indicates, but it isn't happening.
